What We Do : Engineered Outdoor Surfaces & Landscape Architecture
At Resinated, we don’t apply finishes; we design, engineer, and deliver outdoor surface systems and landscapes that perform to specification, withstand real‑world conditions, and exceed client expectations.
This is not surface decoration; this is precision surface engineering.
Every installation is informed by technical understanding of sub‑base behaviour, drainage performance and long‑term durability. We are leaders in engineered surfacing and integrated landscaping combining structural rigour with refined, purposeful design.
Surface Engineering: Designed for Performance, Not Guesswork
Engineered surfacing is fundamentally different from traditional paving. It begins with understanding the ground, the loads the surface must support, and how water moves through and around the site.
Permeable Resin Bound & Engineered Surfaces
Our resin bound systems are specified and installed to comply with Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS), meaning they allow water to drain naturally through the surface into the sub‑base, reducing runoff and flood risk, provided the correct base is used.
Unlike non‑permeable finishes, properly engineered resin bound surfaces:
• Are specified with the correct sub‑base profile and permeability strategy
• Deliver SUDS‑compliant performance where required
• Resist pooling, damage from frost cycles and stress concentrations
• Provide a smooth, durable and cohesive surface ideal for multiple uses
Our approach accounts for site‑specific drainage design and structural loading, not simplistic “one size fits all” methods.
Resin Bound Explained; Full System Understanding
Resin bound surfacing is a precision structural system where graded aggregate is combined with a specialised two‑part binding resin to create a cohesive, porous, high‑strength surface.
What that means in technical terms:
• The aggregate and resin are force‑mixed to ensure complete encapsulation of stones
• The mix is installed over a designed porous or correctly drained base
• Water percolates through the surface into ground or soakaway, reducing burden on surface drainage
• The cured surface is slip resistant, load capable and low maintenance
Resin bound is not merely decorative its performance depends on material selection, mix design and correct base engineering.
Engineered Applications From Domestic to Commercial
Our engineering methodology applies across a wide range of project types:
Driveways
Designed for vehicular loadings, drainage and freeze‑thaw cycles. A driveway must integrate base design with surface function, we ensure vehicle loads are transferred safely to the sub‑base without cracking or deformation.
Patios & Walkways
These surfaces must handle foot traffic, garden interaction and extended wet periods, with fall, drainage and surface grip all considered in specification to reduce slip risk.
Commercial & High‑Traffic Areas
Performance requirements here are heightened. Surfaces are engineered to meet anticipated wear profiles, regulatory compliance, and pedestrian/vehicular use patterns.
Hard Landscaping; Structural & Functional Elements
Surface engineering isn’t complete without hard architectural elements that give shape and purpose to outdoor space:
• Block paving with engineered edge restraints, prevents edge lift and loss of interlock
• Retaining walls and load‑bearing features, designed for soil pressures, sightlines and longevity
• Fencing and boundary systems, installed with correct fixings, material durability and landscape intent
These aren’t cosmetic additions, these are structural components that interact with surfacing systems and landscape design.
Landscape Architecture & Green Systems
A technical surface should never be an island. It must sit within a landscape that is designed with intent:
• Artificial lawn systems, installed with sub‑base integration for drainage and grade control
• Planting schemes and beds, coordinated with irrigation, soil profiles and long‑term growth patterns
• Terrain reshaping and landform engineering, for accessibility, drainage and aesthetic coherence
We don’t retrofit plants onto a finished surface, we integrate landscape and structure from conception.
Repair, Upgrade & Remediation
Not all projects require full replacement. Older or failing surfaces often reflect underlying structural or drainage issues, not superficial wear.
We diagnose and engineer solutions such as:
• Surface remediation with base correction
• Overlay systems that respect permeability and load paths
• Structured patching with engineered refinish specification
This ensures that problems are addressed at the root cause, not merely cosmetically hidden.
Our Method; Engineering Process, Not Guesswork
• Site Assessment & Diagnostics
We survey ground conditions, infiltration potential, fall profiles, expected live loads and drainage requirements.
• Specification & Material Selection
Materials are chosen based on performance data, anticipated use and compatibility with base systems.
• Base & Sub‑Base Design
A crucial engineering phase that determines rainfall handling, load transfer and long‑term surface integrity.
• Installation to Specification
Not shortcuts, adherence to engineered detail, tolerances and quality assured build procedures.
• Performance Verification & Aftercare
Surfaces are checked for compliance with required drainage and structural standards.
Every project is built to a technical specification, not a clipboard checklist.
